2nd gen 3L220 "yoohoo belt"

Thanks to Blake Q of rotary engine illustrated for the info, and Rob Golden of pineapple racing.

We now have a cheap and easy solution to stopping the water pump from slipping, and causing overheating after removing the airpump.

Before this the thing to do was get a dual alternator pulley ($50usd?) and run 2 alternator belts. But the pulleys are under driven which may not be the best thing for a street car.

Now the Yoohoo belt. You should be able to find this at a local hardware shop... but I couldn't. I ordered one from a local car shop. It's just a "3L220" belt. Which is 3/8" thick, and 22.0 inches long, and cost me under $5 cnd. I think normally used for air compressors, table saws etc.. which is why you find it at hardware stores. It goes right around the main pulley and water pump Pulley where the air pump belt went.

To install it, You need to remove the clutch fan (4 nuts), and the power steering and A/C belts if you have them. The belt is tricky to get on since there is no adjustment or tensionor on those pulleys. Wrap it fully around the bottom one and you can just start it on the top one. Stick a wrench or something though the fan bolts and just rotate the engine/pulley, and the belt will pull itself on. Just don't ask me how to get it off :). Probably have to cut it. But hey it's cheap anyways.
